Dr. Marybeth Pompei, SVP of Exergen, to be featured speaker at the Summit
WATERTOWN, Mass., June 02, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Exergen Corporation is a Mission Sponsor for the first annual Northeastern Nurse Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit and Hackathon taking place Friday, June 17 – Sunday, June 19, 2016. The Summit and Hackathon, both first-of-their-kind events, will be a collaborative weekend designed to support nurse innovation in the healthcare system, transforming and improving the patient and family healthcare experience. Dr. Marybeth Pompei, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Scientist, Exergen Corporation, will be a featured speaker, presenting “Opportunities & Pitfalls: Catalyzing an Idea into a Business.”
“As a nurse, scientist and an entrepreneurial businessperson, I am motivated by finding solutions to large-scale problems, so it is exciting to be part of a weekend to share this focus,” said Dr. Pompei. “Nurses are on the front lines of patient care and it has always been our mission at Exergen to support their work and help make their jobs easier and more effective.”
During the Summit, sessions will be attended by thought leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators, who will guide participants by sharing their experience, expertise and passion to design and develop innovative solutions and applications to improve patient care and the healthcare system. The Hackathon will give participants the opportunity to partner with nurses to collaborate, brainstorm and design new solutions, technologies and devices in an accelerated setting.
“We were so thrilled to have Exergen sign on as a Mission Sponsor. The company epitomizes what we are trying to achieve this weekend—a nurse who recognized the value of a mother’s ‘touch test’ as an indicator of fever and turned it into a science-based product to improve the healthcare community,” said Nancy Hanrahan, Professor and Dean of the Northeastern School of Nursing and Associate Dean of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences.
